The Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA), Canada’s largest trade association dedicated to natural health and organic products, is recruiting a skilled and experienced leader to join our team as the association’s Director, Policy & Regulatory Affairs.

Based in Ottawa or Toronto and reporting to the President, you will be a key leadership team member, developing and executing regulatory and legislative strategies that support CHFA and our members. If you have experience in developing strategies for, and driving successful outcomes in, legislative initiatives, regulatory development initiatives, and public policy campaigns, apply today.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Lead all major initiatives related to regulatory affairs, policy development and advocacy with the support of the President and CHFA’s government relations agency;
  • Recommend strategies and develop programs to address key public policy issues, regulatory changes or government initiatives that affect CHFA and its members;
  • Interpret Canadian regulations, guidelines and policies as they apply to CHFA, its objectives and members;
  • Foster and enhance relationships with government, CHFA members, partners and external groups;
  • Represent CHFA in strategic discussions with government, national and international associations.

As the ideal candidate, you have knowledge and experience with a trade association or a not-for-profit organization. Your ability to work with government, members, staff and industry stakeholders to set direction and achieve consensus as well as outstanding interpersonal and written communications skills will be essential. A well-rounded, pragmatic individual, you are comfortable with providing strategic leadership, relationship-building and managing an excellent team of professionals. Fluency in French would be a strong asset. Travel will be required (20 – 25%).
